Dr Gerrit Coetzee has been affiliated with Netcare N1 City since 1996 and also worked at Mediclinic Milnerton and Netcare Blaauwberg Hospitals as a Neurosurgeon. He tragically died in a motor vehicle crash on the 25th July 2015.
Dr Coetzee was highly respected and well-liked by his colleagues, patients as well as staff and management of the hospitals he was working at.
Not only did he contribute at clinical level at the hospitals but played an active role in assisting management with suggestions to improve processes to the benefit of patients and the communities served by the hospitals.
This was evident in his dedicated work in setting up the first interventional magnetic resonance (MR) and computed tomography (CT) theatre in South Africa and one of the most digitally advanced theatres in Africa at Netcare N1 City.
He was also the first doctor in South Africa to perform an artificial-disc operation in 2001.
Unfortunately his passing occurred prior to our planned partnership and I will make every effort to manage and treat all of his patients to the best of my ability and keep up the reputation and legacy of Dr Gerrit Coetzee.
I am a qualified neurosurgeon following my pre- and postgraduate studies at the University of Stellenbosch and currently have private practices at Netcare N1 City, which caters for the northern suburbs of Cape Town and Netcare Blaauwberg Hospital, which caters for the west coast of Cape Town and Western Cape.
