To help you prepare for your visit with Dr SR Naidoo, we've developed a thorough list of frequently asked questions. If you require any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
A neurosurgeon is a doctor who specialises in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of brain, spine, and nervous system disorders.
A neurologist may recommend you to a neurosurgeon if your diagnosis reveals a physical reason for your neurological problem. Surgery is required to remove or correct the condition to enhance your prognosis. Consult Dr Naidoo if you have a nerve, spinal, or brain problem.
Patients need a referral letter as well as any radiology/x-rays recently taken related to their condition.
Patients need to know which medical aid they are on as well as what plan, as this will assist us in advising the correct consultation fees payable on the day of consult. Patients should also know the limitations with respect to imaging scans and possible surgical procedures that are or are not covered on their medical aid plans.
To book an appointment, patients can email bbhinfo@capeneurospine.co.za (Netcare Blaauwberg Hospital) or info@capeneurospine.co.za (Netcare N1 City Hospital).
Alternatively, you can call our rooms directly or fill out our online contact form to request a consult, and we will come back to you at our earliest convenience.
Yes, all new patients need a referral. This can be from your GP, specialist, or physiotherapist. The referral letter with radiology related to your condition must please be emailed to our rooms prior to the consultation date as this allows Dr Naidoo to screen this information beforehand to assess the urgency of your appointment date or to request radiology should he feel that this is needed prior to the consultation. This allows the patient to come and see Dr Naidoo for a “complete “consultation on the day.
Everyone is entitled to a second opinion, but we ask that you let your existing surgeon know that you will be going for a second opinion elsewhere. Dr Naidoo would then also need a report from that doctor. This report must please be sent to our rooms prior to your consult. Should we not receive this report, unfortunately, we will not be able to follow through with this.
We are contracted to certain medical aids for surgery – please contact our rooms for further details.
Consultation fees are paid on the day for all patients (private or medical aid) and can be claimed back from their medical aid should they still have funding available.
20 – 30 minutes (first consult).
We accept cash/card and EFT payments.
Card facilities are available in both practices. Should you be settling via EFT, please note that monies need to reflect in our bank account prior to the consult.
All consultations are paid on the day of consult.
Authorisation for the procedure remains the patient’s responsibility. Each medical aid has its own co-payments, rules, and exclusions for different plans for which we cannot be held liable.
We do, however, do the groundwork for these authorisations where we provide you with a step-by-step process to follow to obtain the authorisation, which is emailed to you to use as a tool when speaking to the medical aid for authorisation as well as assisting you whenever possible in regard to any questions you need answered or any assistance.
