Dr Naidoo utilises the KINEVO® 900 robotic system for brain tumour surgery.
The microscope is designed to deliver more functionality than any surgical microscope on the market today, with over 100 innovations. It combines optical and digital viewing modalities, allowing Dr Naidoo to perform robot-assisted surgery with greater precision, flexibility and control than traditional approaches allow.
Robot-assisted surgery is often utilised in minimally invasive procedures conducted through small incisions. The system includes a camera arm and mechanical arms with surgical instruments. While seated at a computer station near the operating table, Dr Naidoo controls the arms. The console provides the surgeon with a magnified, high-definition 3-D image of the surgical site.
Dr Naidoo uses this technology to target parts of the brain more precisely. It assists him in both planning and executing tasks. ZEISS'S image-guidance features and robotic arm function in tandem under the supervision of a neurosurgeon such as Dr Naidoo.
